Perhaps the single most difficult project phase is gathering and managing business and system requirements. There may be many people involved, each with their own often conflicting expectations and needs. This course examines several facets of the process, taking the view that gathering requirements is a consultative activity. It presents several methods, models and techniques to help you work with the business as consultants. After taking this course, you will have the skills needed to plan for elicitation activities, clarify requirements as you go, and provide clear and accurate feedback throughout the elicitation process.
Who should attend?
Business Analysts (BA) and Business Systems Analysts (BSA) who will be responsible for gathering requirement information from a variety of sources. Also of value to end users who will be explaining business requirements, and to Developers and Testers who may need to gather their own requirements or who are interested in expanding their role into the business realm.
Any prerequisites?
Working experience as a BA or BSA is highly recommended. If you are familiar with problem solving techniques like brainstorming and comfortable facilitating a small group, you should get along just fine.
